Who the hell is India Dawkins?
Get to know some of the brilliant minds behind our work. We’re chatting with members of the DixonBaxi studio about what makes them who they are. From the professional to the personal, nothing is off limits here. Introducing: India, our studio runner who's into all things fashion and loves good grooves.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hey, I’m India, the studio runner at DixonBaxi. If the role name hasn’t been a huge clue, I assist with keeping the studio running smoothly whether it be arranging transport, the snack drawer or setting up work desks, I’m often teleporting throughout the studio where necessary helping everyone to meet their vision.
What’s your story?
Born and raised in East London, l studied Fashion at FRA before switching to Media later on. My career began in the administrative field but I have always had a love for intriguing designs.
What are you working on right now?
Right now, I am working on designing a cool desk space for the team in between whatever new tasks that come my way.
Good design is subjective, but ultimately should invite you into it and hold you within that moment. It should convey its meaning with exactness.
Describe your working style in 3 words.
Random, reflective and fun.
Tell us about some of your interests. What are you into?
I like fashion from head to toe - even if I don’t represent it myself. I am always looking at outfits, hairstyles, accessories and footwear wherever I am. I’m into details and quality garms.
Along with style, I love music. Concerts, festivals, car karaoke, a song playing when getting ready, music videos - all of it.
I enjoy eating too.
Do you think design can change the world? How?
I would describe ‘design’ as something that rests between invention and innovation. So yes, I think design can change the world simply by evolving.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Bad vibes.
What’s the last song you listened to?
Beautiful - Snoop Dogg (ft. Pharrell Williams).
Why do you do what you do? What motivates you?
I am motivated by the creative process and the notion of taking ownership of ideas that are truly unique.
What’s your definition of good design?
Good design is subjective, but ultimately should invite you into it and hold you within that moment. It should convey its meaning with exactness.
