Who the hell is Agata Walas?
We’re a group of creatives who are serious about changing the world for the better. Introducing the people of DixonBaxi; get to know some of the brilliant minds behind our work as we dive into all things professional and personal. Meet Agata–a self-proclaimed thinker by mind and maker by heart. And one of our designers.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hey, I’m Agata and I’m a brand designer with a kick for organisation.
What’s your story?
Born in the great area of the ’90s in Poland, as the middle child. Wannabe architect turned fashion model, and now a designer living in south London.
What are you working on right now?
Currently, I’m finishing a project we’ve been working on in the studio for the past 8 months. It’s a brand from the entertainment industry. It’s been an amazing journey to be involved in it from the start and now be able to see it all come to life.
“Today’s designers are… capable of changing the world, for better and worse. The power is in the decisions we make.”
Describe your working style in 3 words.
Simple, sensible, smart.
Tell us about some of your interests. What are you into?
I’m a thinker by mind and a maker by heart. I’m interested in the world, people and the future of both. Aside from design, I’m very much into nature, crime movies, spicy food, and self-development. I also run my own podcast, Polish Design Scene (taking a break now), and make floral wax seals.
Do you think design can change the world? How?
Hell yes! History is a good advocate of that. Today’s designers are also capable of changing the world, for better and worse. The power is in the decisions we make.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Free people from ego.
What’s the last song you listened to?
Recently I’m rediscovering artists I listened to at the very beginning of my adulthood life. My true gem is a British singer and music maker George Barnett. Every song is a masterpiece. He recently released a new song: LOVESTRUCK.
Why do you do what you do? What motivates you?
I can’t see myself doing anything else. Design is so engraved in my life now. Being a designer shapes how I see the world. It helps me understand the world better, and make smarter decisions.
Design is such a great profession with many opportunities. It’s super rewarding to face different challenges with every project and explore them through creativity. I feel like I’m constantly pushing myself to improve.
What’s your definition of good design?
You get it.
