Who the hell is Lily Mackley?
Get to know some of the brilliant minds behind our work. We’re chatting with members of the DixonBaxi studio about what makes them who they are. From the professional to the personal, nothing is off limits here. Introducing: Lily, our Producer who always has a finger on the pulse of London's cultural hub.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hey! I’m Lily, Producer here at DixonBaxi.
What’s your story?
I was born and raised in Hertfordshire. I studied History at the University of Leicester before making the move down to London and I’ve been here ever since!
Growing up close to London meant I came into the city a lot. I loved coming down to gigs to see my favourite bands, going to galleries with my friends and getting immersed in the culture of the city. Ultimately that curiosity and creative side never left me and led me to a few roles across the creative industry, from broadcast media to design. Fast forward to today, I am now part of the fab production team here at DB.
What are you working on right now?
Something new and exciting. Something future-thinking.
"Good design is design that not only makes you go ‘wow’, but it makes you think as well. It sticks with you. Done right, good design can inspire, motivate and invigorate people."
Describe your working style in 3 words.
Compassionate, focused and curious.
Tell us about some of your interests. What are you into?
I love good food, and honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever get through the list of restaurants I want to visit! I’ve always been into running and at some point I’ll commit to another half marathon, I’m sure. Going to gigs or festivals when I can is one of my favourite things to do and London is without a doubt the best place to do that.
Do you think design can change the world? How?
Of course! Design is part of everything we interact with and consume. It can change the world by influencing how we approach problems and how we go about our day-to-day lives. Design should energise and inspire people.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
More compassion and kindness.
What’s the last song you listened to?
Favourite - Fontaines D.C.
Why do you do what you do? What motivates you?
I am a people-person and I love working collaboratively as part of a team to create work that is impactful and purposeful. I think seeing the work you have created out in the world and witnessing the impact it's having is a special feeling. Outside of that, being around creative people who have a real passion for what they do is inspiring and pushes me to do the best I can.
What’s your definition of good design?
Good design is design that not only makes you go ‘wow’, but it makes you think as well. It sticks with you. Done right, good design can inspire, motivate and invigorate people.
