Who the hell is Leah Surynt?
We only work with awesome people. They’re the secret to everything we do, and we’d like to introduce you to them. Meet Leah, a senior creative from New Zealand who’s very into procedural crime dramas and believes that great design can change the world.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Leah. Senior creative and resident Kiwi.
What’s your story?
I’ve made my way to London by way of New Zealand. I grew up in Auckland on a farm, went to art school thinking I was going to be a fashion designer. Then I thought I’d be an artist. Then I decided I actually liked design so eventually landed on “Graphic Design”.
What are you working on right now?
My quest to find the best orange juice in the UK. If you have any suggestions… let me know.
Describe your working style in 3 words.
Fun, considered and collaborative.
“Being able to make an experience more enjoyable, accessible AND beautiful for people around the world is a pretty great task if you ask me.”
Tell us about some of your interests – what are you into?
When I’m not working, I’m most likely watching a procedural crime drama, trying to find the perfect croissant or opening another tab with some ridiculous chair that you can’t even sit on but I still want.
Do you think design can change the world? How?
Well, yeah! I think it would be hard to do this job if you didn’t think that. Being able to make an experience more enjoyable, accessible AND beautiful for people around the world is a pretty great task if you ask me.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
More empathy.
What’s the last song you listened to?
AUATC – Bon Iver.
Why do you do what you do? What motivates you?
It’s fun! I love my job. There is a new problem to solve every day so it never gets boring. With every new brief comes a new opportunity to push the boundaries of what is expected and challenge thinking.
What’s your definition of good design?
Design with the entire experience in mind. Design for the people who will be interacting with the brand, not other designers.
